Pink Wedding Blessings

A friend of mine got married over the weekend, so I made her this fun little card.  It’s very simple, but I like how it turned out.

Pink Blessings card

Supplies: patterned paper from Memory Boutique, chipboard heart from Stampin’ Up!, “Blessings” stamp from Be Authentic set by The Angel Company, white craft ink from Stampin’ Up!, ribbon by Offray, peel-and-stick rhinestones from Jewelry Fundamentals

I used Nicole’s great tips on covering chipboard to cover my little chipboard heart with patterned paper.  Her best tip was to leave a little extra paper hanging over the edge, and then file the edges down.  I was always a little nervous to try covering chipboard shapes with paper because I didn’t think that the edges would look that clean - how could I cut it just perfectly so that it didn’t look ragged, you know?  So I was excited to try her tip!  I used a sandpaper sponge I keep with my craft stuff and took off a little more of the paper than she did in her tutorial, but I really like the way it looks - nice and clean.  Thanks for the tip, Nicole!

Success!

Well, my husband and I are now finally back home and recovered from Christi’s wedding. What a weekend! It was fabulous! We had a wonderful time together, and had a blast hanging out with my husband’s family.

The favors were a big hit! They looked great at everyone’s place setting, and I got lots of compliments on them. So mark this one as a success!

Each guest received a set of personalized stationery at their seat. Personalized stationery sets as wedding favors.

They’re Done!

Whew!  After a last minute run to the shipping store I can now say that Christi’s wedding favors are done and in the mail!  Yay!  I finished up the assembly of all 130 sets of personalized stationery today while watching a movie.  (And entertaining the most adventurous of my four cats, Meriwether!)

Meriwether the curious!

I didn’t get to round the corners of each sheet of stationery like I wanted to (like in the picture of the sample below), but I just did not have enough time.  I realized that since there are 520 sheets total (4 sheets for each set) that would mean 2,080 corners to punch!  I wonder, do they make corner rounder punches that can cut through large stacks of paper?  Anyway, I think they came out okay.  I used the same cardstock for the bellybands as I did on her invitations, so they match.  And I also stamped the same double heart image in the same ink color.  I think they’ll really look nice at the reception, and will help tie in her wedding theme and colors.  What do ya’ think?

A Paper Corsage for the Bride

I decided that I wanted to make Christi some kind of paper corsage for her to wear at her shower.  I did some searching online and found a pattern for some paper roses at Canon’s Creative Park website.  I think it turned out pretty well!

Here’s a picture of Christi (in the center, wearing the corsage) with her future mother- and sister-in-law.

I found the directions provided with the pattern for this project a little lacking, so I went ahead and made a tutorial so you can make it yourself!  This project would be easily adaptable to use as a gift topper, table decoration, anything!  If you decide to make it, please take a picture of it and post on the comments - I’d love to see it!

Christi’s Wedding Invitations

Christi's Wedding Invitations

They’re done! I have to say that my sister-in-law Christi is a great bride to work with - very easy to please! She chose pretty much everything, including the double heart image as a theme. A double heart stamp was hard to find, and I ended up having to special order this Inkadinkado set of three stamps from my favorite rubber stamp store, Stamp On It - Thanks Deb!

The invitations are a single-card style, with the text printed on white cardstock using ALS Script and Adine Kirnberg Script downloaded from 1001 Free Fonts. The text cards were then layered on Pear and Juneberry textured cardstock by Bazzill Basics. The edges of the Juneberry cardstock are distressed, for which I used my Dremel tool. It’s a nice handy-man’s type multi-purpose tool, and it makes very quick work of distressing paper with it’s sanding bits. (But be warned: the dust will fly!)

The double heart image is heat embossed at the top using PearLustre Hessonite opaque embossing powder by Stampendous, and is stamped at the bottom in Brilliance Platinum Planet ink by Tsukineko. In the picture you can’t see the image stamped at the bottom, but it is there. The Brilliance Platinum Planet ink creates a faint shimmery shadow of an image when stamped on white paper. It’s a very nice effect.

I also made reception cards and RSVP cards. Christi's wedding reception cards Christi's wedding RSVP cards
The reception cards have the double heart image stamped on them in Ancient Page Plum Wine ink by Clearsnap, and they also have distressed edges.

All in all, I think this makes for a very nice set of wedding stationery - simple, yet elegant. Thanks to Christi and Artur, and everyone who helped me make them!

Monica’s wedding cards

My sister-in-law’s sister, Monica, is getting married! She’s having a small wedding in Las Vegas at Cesar’s Palace, and the casino wanted to charge her a fortune for the table centerpieces they offer. So we decided to make cards to set at each person’s plate to serve as centerpieces, and Monica and her fiance will write a personal thank you in the cards to each guest for coming out to Vegas for the wedding. I designed them using Monica’s wedding colors: black, white, and pink. Then we all got together and had a card making party. They turned out great!
