I've had this product for 5 years already. I broke one blade but I do have a pack of refills waiting to be used. I used this mainly for circle labels that were too big for the tins I bought. It worked fine. I've used it on paper and photos. I even used this on felt (not craft felt, mind you). Maybe you got the defective one? Mine still works like a charm. interesting.
